Great themes and sweet romance!
By , Submitted on 2018-08-27

There are so many things that appealed to me about this book! The theme of adoption and the struggle Lana had with being loved and expressing love was a strong one for me. I loved that she is an artist and I related to her on that level as well. The relationship with her friend Ingrid showed Lana's lighter side, and helped it not seem out of character when she connected with Walt even though it was not what she normally would have done. I loved the setting of rural Idaho with an array of characters in the community, including the sneaky and loveable LeVan who taught Lana more about life than she expected from their painting collaboration. There is heartache, humor, sweet romance, and the most memorable first kiss!

There are some references to the characters belonging to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints but this is a book that can be enjoyed by all with its universal Christian themes.

A wonderful, heartfelt romance!

BRUSH WITH LOVE is a story full of heart, art, and romance. Set in a small town with wide open spaces, some fun characters, and a charming old man who is trying to do one more thing before he loses his battle to Alzheimers, will charm readers. While friendships and sweet romance will bring a smile to readers' faces and tug on their hearts. Christian and LDS romance readers are sure to adore this story!

I loved this story! I loved the characters (even the quirky ones), the setting, the very sweet romance, the humor, and the relationships, particularly Lana's friendships with Ingrid, Walt and LeVan. I loved Lana from the beginning when her story pulled on my heart and then as she continues to deal with her traumatic beginning in trying to open her heart. I loved the banter and heated arguments between Lana and Walt and how I could always feel this flame between them, and the sweet way their relationship develops. There's this part with a slow dance that was swoon worthy in the sweetest way. Then there's LeVan... he is so much fun! I loved his mischievousness and wisdom.

There are a few inspirational moments as well that resonated with me, like Lana's prayer towards the beginning on the beach. This element of the story is very light and not particularly religious specific enough to not do well with those of other faiths or those who don't mind a light religious aspect in their books. It lent some authenticity to the characters for who they are.

In the end, was it what I wished for? Yes! I loved this story from beginning to end and the way it pulled on my emotions and left me happily-ever-after content! It's just what I needed.

Love the character growth in this one!

This book was so great! I loved Lana, in the first chapter of the book, you learn a lot about her and how she lives her life. She's at a beach wedding, but knows that kind of wedding isn't for her. Her best friend, Ingrid asks her what kind of wedding she'd have, but she doesn't ever really answer. She wants a wedding in a Temple, but she's a bit afraid to tell her friend about being a Mormon. I loved the way you see Lana change throughout the book. The girl who dances around questions like this disappears and a new girl takes her place.

I like the way we see things from Lana's perspective in this book, but I couldn't help but wonder how Ingrid's perspective would be different. Or maybe even Walt's. I wish I could have seen inside his head sometimes.

I thought the plot was well done. Lana thinks she's going to get one thing, but ends up getting thrown for a loop and ending up with such a completely different thing, she can't help but grow through the experience. I loved seeing her with LeVan, her kindness and compassion really come out around him. It was kind of sad though, the way she had to push Walt away to give LeVan what he wanted.

I really enjoyed everything about this book, the plot, the setting, the characters, the story line. So great!

wonderful story about relationships.

I loved everything about this book. The art, the humour, the characters, especially LeVan and Lana, as well as the side characters who all added to the heart of the story. It is far more than a romance novel. It is a story about love in so many of its forms. It’s a story about seeking for the pearls in life.
