Christ in Every Hour
A favorite hymn of the Latter-day Saints supplicates Christ for His help in "every hour." And while that's certainly true, how is it true? Are we such sinners that we need constant access to Christ's Atonement? Or is there something more to the Atonement, something in addition to forgiveness for our sins? What help does Christ offer in moments when we may not need His forgiveness but do need help beyond our own capacities? We know Christ's Atonement can save us from death and sin, but we may not always remember that we can draw on His Atonement for help in other ways.
In Christ in Every Hour, gospel educator Anthony Sweat explores six of Christ's divine powers, explaining what they mean, why they're relevant, and what they can do for us as we live life each day. Discover more about Christ's power to cleanse, heal, restore, identify with, strengthen, and transform us, and learn how to draw upon the Lord's grace and power in every hour of your life. Which power of Christ's Atonement do you need today? Or in this very hour?

This is a really good book for people who haven't studied much into Christ's atonement yet. Because there is a lot of skepticism in in in regards to the atonement of Jesus Christ found herein. I'm of the opinion that "I don't know" is not a good place to write from and leads to a lot of speculation which is what seemed to be displayed here. I was a bit bothered to by the fact that he seemed to state things like the beginning and ending of Christ atonement without being certain and contradicting the fact that it neither began at his birth or ended at his death.
I felt that it was somewhat faith diminishing how he emphasized the aspects of Christ's Mortal half over his glorious godly half.
Brother Sweat is clever and one can see that he has a clear knowledge of the scriptures (which is to be expected from an S&I religious educator) however I wasn't wowed by any new insight shared.
I recognize one can't know everything there is to know about the atonement of Christ all at once and I appreciate Brother Sweats efforts in sharing what he does know and I would prefer that one states that they honestly don't know over trying to speculate about something they don't because I feel like my time is being wasted otherwise. I don't like made up truths that satisfy the mind for a time yet are not pure enough to penetrate the heart. I like truths that can hit both spots at once and be as true today as they'll be tomorrow and henceforth and forever. However I think this is probably a good listen once someone has listened to so many other powerful truths that they can't take anymore straight up truth for now and they need to stimulate their mind to help it remain pure for the time being.

I just was filled by reading this book. I found powerful insights all over the place. I started with the audio version and kept rewinding because it was so awesome I just wanted to hear it again. I've read tons on the life and application of the Savior and His life. This is as insightful as any. Easy to understand analogies and examples. Worth your "every hour" you put into it! Because Christ is in every page.

Except for Jesus the Christ this is by far the best book about Christ I have ever read in my 69 years. It is simple, organized and very inspirational.

I loved this book! I especially loved the chapter about how Christ heals us. The author's insights on Christ's healing powers really opened my eyes and helped me look at the Healing power of the Atonement in a completely new way. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about how Christ and His Atonement can help us in our lives.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Christ in Every Hour. It helped me to gain a better understanding of the atonement and how I can truly have Christ with me throughout each day. It helped me better understand the role of the Holy Ghost in applying the atonement. One difference that this book has is the self study sections. I loved the self study helps at the end of each chapter to help with further understanding the concepts taught. I would highly recommend this book for teens and adults.

Since I really enjoy Anthony Sweat, I knew that I would like this book. As I started to read the first chapter however, I was afraid it might be a repeat of other books written on Grace, but I was mistaken! This book has been really eye opening for me and I learned so much about hands on practical applications of how the Savior and His Atonement and power can be accessed in our daily lives. I found so many insights to highlight, that my copy became more highlighted than not! Brother Sweat describes 6 different powers of Christ, one of my favorites illustrating His healing power. The things he taught have helped me look at my challenges in a more faith focused way and has given me greater peace.

If you want to think about and experience the humbling, invigorating, and wonderful love of the Savior through the Atonement read and/or listen to this book. You will be so grateful you did! So many spiritual gems that you will be reminded of and maybe many amazing new ones. Did you know that one of things God loves most is the thrill of being merciful?! Do you really believe that Jesus understands your burdens and wants to carry them for you? Are you letting Him carry your burdens?! Is there anything you are plagued with that you would love divine power and help to deal with if it is not going to be healed here? Do you feel you are being refined into a man or woman of the Eternities? Do you stand in need of divine strength and help today? How does grace come? Read or listen to a little of this book right after your regular scripture study every day. Excellent choice -- You are really going to love this. I did.

I really enjoyed how this book outlined the different aspects of what the Savior does for us -- from cleansing to transforming. I listened to this on the Bookshelf (MP3) but then found myself having to stop and rewind a few seconds to hear parts again and jot them down. By the end of the book I had renewed hope as I look at my own imperfections and realize that through Christ I can be transformed.

The atonement is one of the most precious gift granted to us by our Savior and our Heavenly Father. However, few of us are fully cognizant of what the atonement can do for us, to help us achieve our best self. This book has helped me better understand and activate the different powers of the atonement in my life. It reminded me that: "Jesus never tires of our repeated efforts to grow and progress ... He is a patient parent who champions, encourages, and also corrects his spiritual young children as they learn to control their physical and spiritual faculties".

I gained fresh and new insight into the atonement and understanding that I didn’t have before. The stories were relatable and helped to further his points. The many quotes and scriptures he used were powerful. I would recommend this book to anyone who is struggling and needs help to understand where they can turn. We need Christ in every hour and He is always there.

In Christ in Every Hour the author uses many analogies and explanations that explained many aspects of our relationship to Christ and how to better access his Atonement. These analogies and explanations were simple to understand, but explained many things I have always wondered about and got me thinking about things I had never considered. That is of course the purpose of any book of this nature. Everyone would benefit from reading this book.

I loved reading this book. It is extremely well-written, and I felt like I was having a conversation with the author. Anthony Sweat used lots of personal stories as he wrote, which brought the principles that he was teaching to life. While every chapter was powerful, I especially appreciated the chapters on “The Transforming Power of the Atonement” and “The Restoring Power of the Atonement.” There were a lot of fresh insights in both those chapters and throughout the book. I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking to deepen their understanding of the Atonement and draw closer to God.
