What a great movie and a wonderful example of a family pulling together during a hard time. I think the acting was strong and it's got some great music. It's been a great addition to our movie library.
I loved this movie it had something for everyone in it that the whole family can enjoy. It has perfect combination of trial and loss, romance, humor and heartwarming scenes that leaves you feeling good. Not to mention a dog and a horse. Well done!
This is such a sweet movie! Reminds us all what Christmas should really be about. Definitely recommend adding it to your list of Christmas movies.
I got this movie for my grandchildren. We have a family movie night with Grandma every month. They loved the movie and so did I. I was around during the depression, and it gave me the opportunity to let my grandchildren know what it was like at Christmas when I was a kid. I think they learned some lessons, and we might just start a good deed giving box at Grandma's house now.
I just watched it with a few of my kids. It has the expected happy ending, but I was really charmed as I thought of this little family really going thru these experiences. They had so little around the time of the depression but the kids were able to put that aside and focus on serving each other. What a good lesson for us all, especially in light of the spoiled attitudes of many children that prevail in our time.
Every year in our family we choose a Christmas movie that has just come out, to buy for our family. We saw an ad for this movie during general conference, and we bought it and watched it last week.
My kids really liked it. There was something for everyone, beautiful horse, cute dog and great story.
My kids liked the giving box with the marbles and they liked seeing what it was like when there was not a lot of money for kids.
They liked the part where they hang the bully on the fence too.
I don't know whether it's kosher to admit to Desert Book that a movie it is selling isn't good.
I paid full price for this film. Sadly, if it had only been a dollar, it still would have been too much.
This movie was not produced to entertain. It's painfully dull.
Watch something else.
I watched the movie in the theaters this weekend, and loved it. I thought the children in the film, the boy who played Norman and the girl who played Ruthie, were amazing.
The story helps us see the real meaning of Christmas and how it's the little things that really matter.
Christmas is all about giving.
