These slim, affordable journals are designed especially for conference note taking. Each includes a table of contents, space on each page to record the speaker, topic, and date, and an inspirational quote on the back cover. Just the right size to slip into a pocket or purse. Available in small (3½'' x 5½'') or large (4½'' x 6½''), 80 pages on acid-free paper. Each comes with the following quote on the back cover:
“We are in a great school, and we should be diligent to learn, and continue to store up the knowledge of heaven and of earth.” — Brigham Young
I put off buying one of these, thinking them just another gimmick. But that changed, and I was wrong. For this last conference, I broke down and bought some as gifts, and kept one for myself. And I used it.
This notebook is designed for one conference—hence only two pages for the do-it-yourself table of contents. But, with 76 pages for notes, I decided to limit myself to one page per talk.
And this worked for me. I was forced to economize and focus. Knowing that I would bet getting the text on my tablet in a few days, I needn’t worry about taking a dedication. As Elder Hales said, “When I take notes at conference, I do not always write down exactly what the speaker is saying; I note the personalized direction the Spirit is giving me.”
As a result, I was able to focus on direction and inspiration, instead of transcription.
Conference, then, became more meaningful and more useful, since I was dutiful in keeping notes.
And I bought six more copies for myself. That'll last until 2019.
