As women living in the latter-days, we are bombarded with mixed and confusing messages about who we are and how we should be living our lives. When we turn away from the world to open a book like Elder M. Russell Ballard's refreshing "Daughters of God," all confusion falls away and clarity, purpose and determination set in.
A short but powerful read, I read this book in the wee morning hours while my daughter attended early morning seminary in our ward building. By the time she came to get me to go home, I felt uplifted and affirmed in ways that a mother rarely does at such an early hour. What a way to begin the day.
Elder Ballard's book, divided into three equally powerful sections ("Daughters of God," "Teach the Children," and "As Women of God"), honors women in ways few books do. Elder Ballard is a man of God who knows women and knows what they need to hear about their sacred work in the Lord's kingdom.
For every sister who reads this book, she will find herself standing easily taller. For every brother who reads this book (and I hope many will, perhaps aloud with the women in their lives), he will be inspired to honor and cherish the women in his life more than ever before. -- Debra Woods, author of "Mothering with Spiritual Power: Book of Mormon Inspirations for Raising a Righteous Family" and "It's Okay to Take a Nap: and Other Reassuring Truths for Mothers Everywhere"
As I read this book I realized Elder Ballard’s love for all women. Women who are mothers, single, young, and young at heart, will all find encouragement from Elder Ballard’s words. This book will make a great gift for Mother’s Day, and a great gift for those women who aren’t mothers yet.
