After a humiliating defeat at the hands of Kendra and Seth, Celebrant, King of Dragons, prepares to unleash his fury and take control of his native preserve. Two of the seven dragon sanctuaries have already fallen. Will Wyrmroost be next?
Armed with secret information from a new ally, Celebrant seeks a talisman that will guarantee victory in the war against the humans. With a cursed castle and traitorous creatures standing in the way, Kendra and Seth must attempt to foil Celebrant's plan and beat him to his prize.
Will the two young caretakers rally enough support from the creatures of Wyrmroost to quell the uprising and protect the world from draconic dominion? One thing is certain—dragons are deadly foes, and one wrong move could bring swift defeat. It will take more than Kendra, Seth, and their current allies have ever given to endure the wrath of the Dragon King.

WRATH OF THE DRAGONS is another release from this author that Fablehaven fans will love. The story is full of dragons and other magical creatures, adventurous quests full of danger, and favorite characters along with a few new ones. If you're a fan of the original series or this new one, this is one story not to miss!
I'll be honest... the beginning of this story was fairly slow. Even my son, who is a huge Fablehaven fan, didn't get too far into it before he picked up another book. However, it's worth reading on as by a fourth of the way through the story intensifies quite a bit and is difficult to put down until the very end. I easily ate up the pages as these characters face insurmountable odds and a dangerous quest against dragons and others full of tricks who would like to see the world crumble. There were a few things I felt were too easy for some and others that were a little annoying, but overall I enjoyed seeing what happened and how it all played out. It felt slightly better than the first book and I'm hoping each subsequent book will just get better. There is quite a bit unresolved at the end of this one. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in the next book and the two after, as this is supposed to be a five-book series.
In the end, was it what I wished for? For those who are fans of the Fablehaven world and the first book in this series, this is a must read. It's definitely worth sticking through the slow start to get to the climatic ending.

I really loved book two of Dragonwatch: Wrath of the Dragon King. The characters of Kendra and Seth have grown up so much and are faced with even more complex problems as the caretakers of Wyrmroost. It's been fun to see how they've grown into their powers and their roles as caretakers of a dragon sanctuary. They are up against such a formidable foe, Celebrant, King of Dragons. He is so powerful you wonder through the whole book how they will ever come out on top, considering Celebrant has declared war on humanity. There are so many new and exciting things that Kendra and Seth receive to help them in their quest, but there's also so many challenges facing them; especially when they go to an old, spooky castle. This is one of those books that you'll want to read when you have a huge block of time because it's hard to put down. This book is a must read for all Fablehaven fans, but don't read this book until you've read the first book in the Dragonwatch series! These are great books for Middle Grade readers and would make a perfect Christmas gift!
Brandon Mull is one of my favorite authors. And my daughters love his books as well. His books are a must read at our house. In fact, this book has been fought over. You know it’s good when that happens!
This book picks up where the first Dragonwatch left off. If you haven’t read that one, you really need to read it. Before you read any more of this review or before you read this one.
I love how Brandon Mull has kept Seth and Kendra consistent throughout both the Fablehaven series and this one. The reader knows the characters well enough to know how they will respond to things. Both Seth and Kendra are great characters. I love that you get to see things through their perspectives.
Another fun thing about this one is that we get to see things through a newer characters perspective as well. Knox is Seth and Kendra’s cousin. He and Seth seem to be cut from a similar cloth. They are both more curious than they should be about everything. And they both get into trouble because of it.
I loved the fantasy of this one. The way the author describes things like things like the feast with the dragons made it easy for me to picture it in my mind. And there are so many fun and clever things in this one.
If you’re a lover of middle grade books, fantasy stories, or dragons, you will love this book and the whole series.
Better and better!
Brandon Mull has an ability to draw you in. I am a grandma and listened alone because I love it. Kirby is a great person to listen to. I wish he read more books.
I love the Fablehaven series. The stories are compelling and teach valuable lessons. Brandon Mull writes descriptively.
My biggest complaint is that dialogue is frustrating when it goes back and forth Kendra said, Seth said, Grandpa said, and so forth. Even in tense and heated circumstances it is still said said said. Can we get an exclaimed, muttered, declared, whispered, etc.?
Whatever you do, don’t listen to the audio version. Kerby does a great job with the voices but hearing “said” twenty time in a row in a flat deflated voice during impassioned dialogue will drive you nuts.
Many people have a place they love to go where imagination runs wild and reality is forgotten, the Fablehaven universe is that place for me, I’m so glad Dragowatch continues the adventure. This is a middle grade fantasy adventure series.
Seth is back along with his humor; his interactions with other characters are pure entertainment. Kendra helps balance Seth with her thoughtful nature and if I had a journey through the Bewilderness I’d pick Kendra every time. Thank goodness for the somber knight and his trusty ride! Teamwork is on full display as a group of friends work together to solve mysteries and win a contest with the world at stake.
At this point I feel like I’m part of the family. As with the other Fablehaven adventures, Wrath of the Dragon King is well written and even though I’m not a “young” reader I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it to anyone that can read… lots of fun.
