Product Description

In the sprawling gardens of their neighboring estates, childhood friends Miles and Elise spent countless pleasant days together in the spirited adventures of youth. They were inseparable — until Elise vanished without a trace. Miles searched, but Elise could not — or would not — be found . . .

After years spent laboring on the family plantation in the West Indies, Miles Linwood is shocked by the unexpected news: he has inherited his uncle’s estate and the title of Marquess of Grenton. Miles’s return to England is tarnished by only one thing — he is still haunted by Elise’s mysterious disappearance. So when he glimpses a woman with a startling resemblance to his lost friend, he’s shaken to the core. This is no mere shadow of the past: it is truly Elise. But his dear friend has changed — to the point that he questions whether it is really her, though he knows it is. Accustomed to rescuing Elise from childhood escapades, Miles takes her and those in her care back to his estate, even as he struggles to understand her fear and mistrust. As their friendship and feelings slowly blossom again, the shocking truth of their separated years is revealed, and Miles realizes more than ever that he must protect Elise. She slipped away once, and he cannot lose her again.

Boring

This was okay but not great. I did enjoy it but I wanted something more. It was actually kind of boring. I kept waiting for some fireworks or butterflies but...nothing. It was just okay. Not worth full price! Wait for it to be on sale.

Childhood Friendship Blossoms to Sweet Romance

For Elise is the sweetest Romance between childhood friends tenderly written by Regency queen Sarah M. Eden. She has expertly created a loving world that nurses a wounded soul back to life.

Wonderful book by a wonderful author.

I finally got around to finishing this and unsurprisingly I loved it. It's no wonder that Sarah Eden is one of my all time favorite authors. I loved the characters, Miles and Elise especially. The character development is especially good as we gradually learn what led to Miles and Elise going in different directions and what has happened to Elise in the four years they have been apart. I also really enjoyed the part that Elise's daughter Anne played in the story. She is such a sweet addition to the story and her relationship with Miles is fun.

The murder mystery part of the story adds a great deal to the mystery surrounding Elise's disappearance. The author does a great job slowly revealing the events of the murders and what exactly happened to Elise that contributed to her leaving. I think what I love the most about Sarah Eden's books is how real her characters feel with real struggles and emotions and challenges. Miles struggles with trying to help Elise while figuring out why she disappeared and why she doesn't trust him, especially after how close they were growing up. Elise struggles with trusting anyone, even Miles, after all the tragedies that have befallen her. The last four years hadn't been kind to her and after how Miles hurt her she's reluctant to trust anyone and yet she desperately needs help.

It's nice to read a clean romance that has some depth to it that feels genuine. Another wonderful book from a wonderful author.

This is MY FAVORITE Sarah M. Eden book so far!

You have the GREAT writing, and the FUN bantering.

And the WONDERFUL romance!

But there is a NEW TWIST~

This book takes someone who used to be in the high-society...

and places them outside of it...

and then shows the struggle of coming back into it...

SO. SO. SO. GOOD!

Elise and Miles grew up together running through the halls and gardens of their great estates as the best of friends.

Then Elise simply vanishes....

Miles inherits his cousin's estate along with the title of Marquess of Grenton.

When he sees a woman and child begging for scraps he is drawn to the child.

Surely some of his money could be used to help them.

Seeking her out he finds that her mother resembles his long lost friend.

"This is no mere shadow of the past: it is truly Elise....
She slipped away once, and he cannot lose her again."

But what would the rumors say?

LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. this book!
AN AMAZING MUST-READ!

Disappointed, because I'd waited months for this to be released and it's not as happy as I'd like it to be..

I'm such a fan of Ms. Eden, have all her books and waited for months for this book's release, only to have a hard time finishing it. It's so filled with sadness and darkness, as well as the good stuff, that I had to stop, and go to the end that I knew I'd like, to get the determination to finish the middle. The topics she covered are very tender and poignant and sensitive.....and the mystery surrounding the pieces handled well, as usual.

Her skill in writing is still excellent and there is some lightness, tenderness, and humor, but this is not an easy one to read and digest......

Masterfully written regency romance with good mystery and action

Elise and Miles grew up together as best friends. But when Elise disappeared without a trace when she was 15 years old, Miles lost a part of himself and is haunted by her loss. Four years later, he accidentally stumbles upon Elise and her 3 year old child in another township. Horrified to see her begging remnants from the merchants and living in impoverished conditions as a widow, he takes her and her child and Mrs. Jones, her mother-in-law, back home with him. He thinks Elise will be thrilled—because he is—but she acts cold and withdrawn. He would do anything for Elise; her happiness means everything to him. So why does she now seem to hate and despise him? What has happened to the girl who once adored him?

This book was amazing, like all of Sarah Eden’s books are. Her writing is superb. The characters are deep and the scenes are masterfully written to pull you along through misunderstandings, intense mysteries and the deepest emotions to be felt.
