Product Description

Emma stood alone at the edge of the Mississippi, pondering its lazy flow that was so familiar to her. . . . More than three decades had passed since she'd lost her precious Joseph. She had learned to live without him . . . but nothing had ever felt right without him. . . . “Joseph,” she whispered into the breeze as she lovingly fingered the worn gold beads encircling her throat, a gift from Joseph, one of the few tangible remnants of his love for her.

In this triumphant tribute, well-loved LDS author Anita Stansfield conveys Emma Smith's greatness of spirit; her undying love for and loyalty to Joseph; her remarkable compassion, courage, and dignity; and her unwavering testimony of the Savior.

Joyful and poignant, insightful and moving, intense and reverent, this thoroughly researched fictional narrative paints an intimate portrait of the Lord's “elect lady” through a love story that transcends time and embraces eternity.

Brief, unemotional summary, exactly like the movie
By , Submitted on 2015-02-25

This book is almost exactly like recent movie Emma: My story. It is not told from Emma's point of view, and is a brief summary of Emma's life with Joseph. I read this book because the movie inspired me to find out more about Emma and what happened to her after Joseph's death. This book did not answer any of my questions; rather, it left me with more unanswered questions. This book would be good for someone who wants to know the basic history of Joseph and Emma's life together, but it offers the exact same story as the movie.

Excellent companion to the Emma movie.

We liked this book so much, we passed it on to an inactive family member. Well written account as only Stansfield can do!

Emma gave me a new outlook on the Prophet's wife

As I read this book "Emma Smith:Woman of Faith" I became more humbled by her strength and compassion. Anita Stansfield has touched my soul with her many books. This one took me back in time as I realized how little I knew of Joseph's wife.

Wow, couldn't put the book down!!!

Reading the experiences from Emma's view is an inspiration to all woman. I could actually feel the joys, sorrows, trials and accomplishments of her life. My eyes were opened to the love and devotion of Joseph and Emma. No matter what happens, you can endure to the end through faith and the love of God.

Heart felt inspired story!

When I first got the book I thought it would be like other books I read, but it wasn't. From the very beginning I realized this book would be one of my favorites. Emma has always been someone I wondered about and through her trials I learned what kind of woman she was: Spiritual, dedicated, and courageous. I cried when she cried, shared in her joy, and felt my heart break when she found out about Joseph's death. I recommend this book to anyone who would love to know more about the life of Emma Smith.

great story on Emma

this is a really well-written story from Emma's point of view. I liked that Emma told the story. Anita researched and spoke to her family to get the details that aren't common knowledge. I think the only thing that would've made this more interesting would be to have Emma explain why she chose not to come with the saints, and why she couldn't accept Brigham Young as the next prophet. She know how revelation worked...she saw it firsthand, but after Joseph died it was almost as if her testimony of the truth died with him. It kept my attention, and could hardly put it down! Definitely worth reading!
