This book is a lesson in true friendship and spiritual growth. It illuminates the process of conversion to eventual exaltation and maps one converts progression in a series of letters to his friend. I enjoyed how Elder Maxwell wrote this, I could see the changes that the were taking place in the characters and how these affected both differently.
I read this book years ago, shortly after my mission in the mid 80s. I seldom read book more than once, but I did this one. I will be buying more copies as Christmas presents this year! A great book and a great experience. Michael Boyter
I took this book with me on a 3-day weekend vacation for some light reading. The letter style makes it easy to read small sections at a time-although I rarely put it down! What an inspirational story! Although fiction, the words are taken right out of the scriptures and it feels as if you've been there and heard of it before. I would highly recommend this book as a gift for anyone, including teenagers. It's easy to read style brought the spirit without intense study.
I was loaned this book (entitled Of One Heart at the time) to read in the late 70's while in college ... I was forever changed. A few years later, after returning from my mission, I wanted to purchase the book for myself and was disappointed to find that it was out of print. Of course, Elder Maxwell has given us so many wonderful pieces to read and ponder, but I really wanted to read this particular book again. I was so happy to spot the words 'Elder Maxwell' and 'Enoch' on the Deseretbook.com website today, and was even more happy when I found that this wonderful book has been reprinted (albeit with a new title). I encourage you to read it — it is a beautiful and moving fictional representation of one man's spiritual transformation through his personal encounters with Enoch and his teachings.
