So perfect
By , Submitted on 2018-04-19

I just finished listening to the auidobook version of this book. I can't tell you how many times I started it and had to restart it because I got lost or distracted, but I think I needed to hear it that many times. Every chapter hits the nail on the head. As someone who has had a rough relationship with God for the past few years, this book was so perfect for me at this time in my life. I love that she makes her thoughts more available to any Christian and not just members of the LDS faith. This is a book I am seriously considering giving my mom, who has left the church, because of that.

I listened to the audio book. I loved the personal conversational tone of the author. I appreciated her vulnerability in sharing her personal questions, hardships, and hopes. This is a book I will be sharing with people as they face their own life challenges. It gives the reader hope that we truly can trust God with everything . . . even the things we hold back.

I listened to the audio book and loved all of it. My understanding grew of familiar scripture stories but mostly I hope I learned more of my relationship with God and the potential for so much more.

Definitely will read again!

I loved reading this book because it was so inspiring and insightful. Every day, I took a few minutes to read and it seemed that it was exactly what I needed to hear, to feel that day. I loved the deeper understanding Emily provided as she shared personal experiences and specific points from the Bible stories that I have loved since a child. There are so many points that I highlighted and words that I keep in my heart to remind me to trust God and His goodness. The author does an excellent job of sharing insight in a way that is conversational. As I read, I felt like I was talking to one of my best friends--the ones that know me down deep and understand what needs said. This book is a gem and I'm so grateful I was given the opportunity to read it. If you've ever come to a place in your life where you've questioned if you could make it through, if God was there to guide you, to pull you, to hear you...read this book, because He is there in all things, even this.

Honesty in the midst struggle
By , Submitted on 2017-10-08

Honesty in the midst of struggle is not something we freely talk about. Too often we identify the trial and then skip to outcome never talking about the pain and doubt, the real struggle, that happened in the middle. This book is wonderful in covering the struggle and helps face it head on with a new perspective. This book came at a time when doubting God hit me hard. I couldn't deny there was a God but I could decide not to depend on Him, not to trust Him. It helped me process the pain and disappointment. I have a new respect for what could possibly be going on "behind the scenes" while I am, not so patiently, waiting for resolution with life's setbacks.
Love the use of Bible stories to bring insight. Love the focus on tracing God's goodness. Still working on trusting.

I can't wait to read this one over and over and learn even more from it!

Sometimes I dread reading non-fiction just a little bit. It seems like I read it way slower and sometimes it makes my brain hurt. I have to tell you that this book is not like that at all! I love the way that Emily Belle Freeman writes, she has so many personal experiences she shares and she just has such a great style. I really enjoyed reading this one!

I really enjoyed reading all of her personal experiences. I learned a lot myself from those experiences. Things that will help me with what I am already dealing with in my daily life and things that will help me with life to come.

This book has 4 main sections. They are all amazing! The sections are Believing He Can, Trusting He Will and Understanding Why Sometimes He Doesn't and then there's a journal section where you can write down what you learn as you read it and beyond, as you learn more and more.

This book is not one that you'll read just one time. This is one of those that you can read over and over and learn more and more from each time you read it. I'm looking forward to all I can learn from it as I read it again and again.

Even This

When I first started reading, the different chapters seemed random and unconnected; I was a tad bit confused. However, as the book progressed it all kind of came together, and I loved how Ms. Freeman explained everything. Her insights and examples are very personal and touching. It's easy to get caught up in your trials and think that everyone else has it good, but when you read her book you realize that everyone goes through difficult things. I thoroughly enjoyed learning from Ms. Freeman. She does a great job of breaking down well known biblical stories and helping you see the application from the story in your life. I loved this book. It is a bit random at times, seemingly jumping from one experience to another, but in the end it gave me a better insight into the trial I'm going through, and it allowed me to realize that I'm not in control--thank goodness!!--God is in control, and he can see the whole picture. As a mom it's hard to let go of that control, but if I (we) can, then I'll (we'll) be able to see the miracle at the end. You may read my full review on my book blog: www.the-readathon.blogspot.com.

New Perspectives on Familiar Scripture Stories
By , Submitted on 2017-09-11

I love this book, and the timing was perfect. It has taken me five years to finally understand what was holding me back in my journey to discipleship. A few months ago, I finally came to understand that the problem was that I don't trust God. So I started looking for reasons why I don't trust Him and trying to find ways to learn to trust. There wasn't much material until I found this in my email inbox one day. I bought it immediately and have read it three times so far. It feels so good to know that someone else has had all the same doubts and fears. I could relate to everything! I am so glad the author figured out how to deal with all of it, AND was blessed with the talent to share it with those of us who are still struggling. She also does it with references that are only from the Bible, so you can share this inspirational book with friends of other Christian faiths.

A beautifully written book on how to trust God!!!
By , Submitted on 2017-09-11

First off, look at the beauty of this cover. It's just magical to me. Second, this is a religious book written by and LDS Author. Having said this, I think this book would be good for anyone who is trying to find a way to trust God.

When I was asked to review this I was excited. I have to admit when I got the book in the mail, I was a little sad because I thought it was going to be a self-help book. I don't like self-help books because they always feel like they are written for me and what I am doing wrong ;).

I am happy to say that this book did not feel like a self-help book at all. It was written by a wife and mother who has faced her own struggles in life and questions "Why" and "Where is God". We journey with this mother and the way she finds how to trust God, and his timing.

So many things in this book I feel were written just for me, but in a good way. I think that no matter what religion you are it is important to find a relationship with God. Whatever that may look like to you as an individual. Sharing the same religion as the author though it did add a little more insight to things I can do to increase my faith and trust in God.

This book is beautifully written, and never made me feel as though I was doing something wrong. Quite the opposite. It helped me to see that another person has gone through hard times in her life and has also questioned "why" things are happening. It helped me understand that God answers prayers on his own time, and not ours. It was just beautiful.

Source: I was given this book as part of a tour in return for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way for this review. These are my own PERSONAL thoughts on the book.

Beautiful cover, on point topic
By , Submitted on 2017-09-06

"You can spend your whole life learning, studying - going to church, listening to the sermon, studying the Word, you might even take notes. But at what point does the learning part transition into the living part? When does what you believe turn into what you will become?"

Wow. This is right on point. I would hedge a guess most of us that claim some connection to a religious existence would say we are pretty good at the first part. Its become part of our psyche even. We attend what we need to attend. Fulfil all our commitments at church. Take well intentioned notes during the lessons. We are pretty skilled in going through the motions. We may even be convinced we are doing a good job at sticking with it. Making good choices, being great people. But have we, actually, being able to successfully transition what we are listening to each week, or reading in our study into real life change?

This book posed new thought processes to me on almost every single page. Emily skillfully teaches as she goes with clear, simple to understand but descriptive text, using her own life experiences or those close to her - along with scriptures to validate the point. I usually chose a inspiration book with the mind that I'll keep it close by as a resource. Snag a few moments from the day to read a section or two. Before you know it you will have read much more than you planned. This book is so easy to relate to its hard to put down.

Gorgeous cover, this would make a great gift for anyone in your life that you want to help lift. Those with questions, those looking for comfort or peace. Or even those who just want to try out a new release. This would be the book for you. I was able to read this in its digital format, but I think this is one I would love to buy and have on my shelf.

Thanks to Shadow Mountain & Netgalley for the complimentary eARC. This is my honest review.

Each chapter in the book is like listening to TOFW talk
By , Submitted on 2017-08-25

This is the first book I have read by this author. I felt like the author was a little bit more dramatic than necessary, but that being said it was still a good book. It felt like going to TOFW and listening to a talk that makes you feel good and has the power to motivate. I did not even realize at the time that the author is a TOFW speaker. No wonder it had that feel. It is a good book, but not a book you HAVE to have. If you are looking for a motivational book about making it through trials, this is a good read. I would recommend this book for women, it is definitely directed to them .

I LOVE Emily Freeman's works and read everything from her!
I was really intrigued with the thought on the cover --

Are you like me???
Do you want to be in charge of your life?
Do you want to be in control of how it should play out?
Are you afraid to trust for fear of what He will do with your life?
If so-- then you, like me, need this book!

An Inviting and Relatable Book
By , Submitted on 2017-08-02

This book by Emily explores a question most people are not ready to ask themselves, "Am I able to live my faith?" She explores several different aspects when exploring our faith and relationship with God-allowing the reader to ask themselves deeper questions. Not only is this book perfect for those struggling, it is also very interactive with spaces to write down thoughts about scripture references and a journal in order to explore our thoughts.
