The action starts right away in this book! We barely meet Charlotte Martin and then she is running for her life. We quickly learn that she's smart and creative and needs to stay sharp and trust her instincts.
Jake Bradford is a writer who has returned home because his parents recently died. He finds out that he needs to take care of his grandmother and isn't sure what to do. Charlotte enters his life and it turns out that his farm is just the place she needs to lay low until she can meet up with the people who can help her figure out what's going on.
Jake and Charlotte are both likable. Charlotte was so cute with his grandmother, as she would allow her to "teach" her how to cook and she truly enjoyed spending time with her. They also have a lot in common with their family situations. Their relationship has the potential to change both of their lives but she can't be completely honest with him so there are some trust issues to overcome.
I loved the fast pace and had a hard time putting this one down. I liked that it would slow down a little at times so I could catch my breath before it picked up again. I love Traci Hunter Abramson's books and this one didn't disappoint. If you enjoy clean romantic suspense, this is a great choice!
I LOVED this book! I loved Charlotte, she's a really great character. She's taking a break from working with her dad and his assistant one morning when she hears gunshots. Considering that she and her dad work for the NSA, gunshots are not a good thing. When she glances out the window her eyes lock with a man with hard eyes and he starts coming after her. She quickly gets out, gets rid of anything trackable that she has with her and works to get herself off the grid. She knows that she's the only one who will be able to start the program that she and her dad work with back up and that she must stay safe until she can meet up with the NSA again.
Jake is a well-known author whose parents have just died. Leaving him in charge of the farm that has been in their family for generations and his grandmother who is going senile. He's not sure how he's going to juggle everything. And then he meets Charlotte. She's going by the name Hannah now, and accepts Jake's offer of a job to be his grandmother's companion and keep her from burning down her home.
I loved the chemistry that Jake and Charlotte have from the beginning. I love that Charlotte is able to step in to care for Jake's grandmother with as much love and compassion as though she was her own grandmother. I love the level of action and suspense in this one. There isn't a dull moment, Charlotte is constantly having to watch her back to avoid getting caught by the killers. I loved that it felt as though Charlotte and Jake are real people that do live in the middle of nowhere in Virginia. The plot is awesome, the ending was great too. I loved the characters so much that now I just want to know what happened to them! Maybe if I'm lucky that answer will be in another one of Traci Hunter Abramson's books soon.
This story immediately pulled me in. Charlotte is on the run and I had no idea how she was going to escape. Her father was killed and the killers are now after her. Let me just say, I was totally on the edge of my seat.
It's to be expected that someone with that level of training would be a pro at these intense situations, but Charlotte is real. She struggles with knowing who to trust and how much information to give out, yet she is naturally kind and caring--her training can't change who she really is. I would be a mess with all the suspense and unknowns, but Charlotte found a way to reach out and ease the lives of those around her. The way she interacted with and helped Jake's grandma is very sweet.
Charlotte ends up on Jake Bradford's doorstep, in desperate need of safety. Jake has problems of his own and has suffered a sudden loss in his life as well. With that in common, the two of them build a strong connection and had a chemistry that stemmed from awkward interactions. These two were great characters!
I loved the way the story went back and forth between Charlotte and Jake and the killers because it really upped the intensity of the situation. I loved the climax and ending--they both fit the storyline and characters really well. Nothing is over the top and it's really well done.
Content: mild romance (kissing); mild violence (deaths, kidnappings, crime violence--nothing graphic); no language or religious elements. Clean for a reader who can handle intense situations.

From the first page this book drew me in and kept me turning the pages to find out how it ends.
Charlotte and Jake have both recently suffered loss. For both it was sudden and unexpected. Both have emotional scars and feel some responsibility for circumstances beyond their control. This is a common bond that draws them together.
Charlotte has deep secrets that she can't reveal to Jake. She is on the run from a security breach that led to the murder of her father and his assistant. I was amazed at how resourceful she is. It was part of her legacy and training from childhood.
This book is full of suspense. There are alternating points of view that show how determined the good and the bad guys are to find her. She is the key for both parties in hiding/opening a top secret computer program. I kept reading to find out who would find her first!
This book is a clean suspense novel. There is some violence due to the nature of the story. It wasn't descriptive. Excellent book!
I LOVED the unusual, intriguing twists in this book. Such as the mode of transportation chosen to not be tracked, and the family history twist to try to find out who Charlotte's real parents were, and what requesting a birth certificate leads to. As always Traci delivers great action-packed suspense with just a hint of romance...just like I like it! Traci Hunter Abramson is one of my all-time favorite authors- I highly recommend all of her books! Get ready for a "brand new adventure! "She can run...but can she survive?" SO. SO. SO. GOOD!
This book was quite the thrill ride. I loved it. It kept me turning the pages and guessing what would happen next. I loved the characters and the heartpounding action that Abramson wove throughout the story. And the underlining love story was perfect for this book. I would highly recommend this to any and everyone who loves a fantastic ride! It may not be suitable for younger readers due to the intensity of some scenes.
This was a book I was so happy to get my hands on. I love clean, romantic suspense books and Traci Abramson is one of my favorite authors in this category.
This book was so easy to get caught up in. I was invested from the very beginning and did not want to put this book down. I almost feel bad when I read through a book so fast. What took an author countless hours of time to write, I polish off in a few. I really hope they take that as a compliment though because it is.
I liked Charlotte and I liked Jake. Separately and together. What I liked most about Charlotte was that even though her world was falling apart, she still extended kindness and gentleness to others. She wasn't lashing out to hurt others because she hurt.
The suspense was good- perfect for me because I'm somewhat of a chicken. This suspense was engaging without scaring me silly. :) What a fun book, well written and engaging. Oh, and clean! Yay!
My thanks to Covenant for allowing me to read and review this title for them.
