I really liked this book and thought it lived up to the first two books. It was full of action, adventure, fighting, a teency bit of romance, sacrifice (the good kind, not the bad kind), deception, betrayal, and ingenuity. As in the first two books, Marcus and Kyja make the book come to life. They are so cute! I love that even though they have their limitations, they learn to work together to overcome them. I love how they secretly love each other but would never admit it. I thought the air elementals were creative yet somewhat annoying. They did have a slightly humorous side to them. There were some new enemies made, but some new allies stood up as well. The ending of this book is killer. It did surprise me and now I'm dying. Must. Have. Next. Book. It is somewhat violent with sword fighting, evil creatures and dark magic. There is the death of a main character as well. I think it is appropriate for about 4th and 5th grades. This book has been YEARS in the making...but so worth the wait.
Yes...the adventure continues...and what an amazing adventure it is!
As I was reading I kept thinking..."this is as good as Fablehaven."
And "this is as good as Lord of the Rings."
You will fall in love with the characters and cheer them on as they battle to bring together not only Water, Land, Air, and Fire but also Far World and Earth.
While the story is written as a middle reader it has kept me plenty entertained!
My husband and grown boys have read this series too and loved it as well.
This series is a definite must read for all ages :)
