Great stories with a wonderful message

I love learning through stories. These women had wonderful testimonies and their experiences show their love and devotion to the gospel. From shipwrecks to pioneer crossings, jailbreaks to midwife training there are many amazing adventures told here.

Insightful, Quick Read

This book highlights stories from the first three volumes of Women of Faith in the Latter Days. While I wish this was openly stated on the website description, the book explains this well in the introduction. There are eighteen brief stories total, each one written by a different author and highlighting women throughout the early stages of the Church.

Personally, I LOVE that this is a short compilation of stories about women throughout Church history. I'd never have time to read all of the Women of Faith volumes, and this short book was just what I needed to fill my interest. All the women highlighted have unique stories to tell from different times and places in Church history, and yet they're all connected by their examples of faith, perseverance, and undeniable testimonies of the Gospel. Reading about their trials and how they continuously trusted in the Lord really strengthened my own resolve to be better and press forward. This was such a quick read--I nearly finished it in one sitting--and a perfect gift to all women, young and old.

Fearless in the Cause

I really enjoyed this book. It is a wonderfully quick and inspiring read.
The stories haunted me for days and I found myself retelling the stories of these remarkable women.
I have recommended this book to many friends knowing that they would enjoy both the simplicity and the awakening that it offers.

Short, Sweet and Significant

Even though these stories are in larger volumes, as a busy woman, I personally like a smaller volume of select stories. It is less daunting, and, I believe, more meaningful. I appreciate that there are specific sections of stories, and there are enough that are different that each story resonates with women of different types of life going through different trials. I especially like the stories of the women who, after life threw so many curveballs, took charge of their lives, like Diantha Billings. The book also provides many examples of women who, while still being strong and courageous, were still feminine and believed in their roles as women.

A valuable companion to the series

“It was freezing and the river was very wide. I crossed it with my handcart and had to go back and haul my mother across and get the children across, and it was getting dark and very cold and my clothes were wet.”
Janetta Ann McBride Ferrin was sixteen when she waded the cold Platte River in 1856, and more of us can read her words today because of this beautiful new publication. Editors Brittany Chapman Nash and Richard E. Turley have compiled and condensed eighteen remarkable stories from their landmark series, Women of Faith, and in doing so, have produced a wonderful companion to the longer work. In addition to Ferrin, lesser known (but no less worthy) women are featured, Laura Clark Phelps, Diantha Morley Billings, and Elizabeth Harrison Goddard among them. While these sisters are also part of the larger series, their presence here extends their collective voice. Whereas the series volumes are stately and dignified, Fearless in the Cause is delicate and restrained, yet lovely (and sometimes even stark) in its muted black and white photography, its format design, and most of all, its message. Brevity is its asset. It’s a book to be taken quickly from the shelf when a moment of vital inspiration is required --- a moving experience, a heartfelt memory – all readily accessible. Even those who own the original series should put this little volume beside it. Fearless in the Cause is a small jewel in a larger crown of achievement, allowing many more readers to become familiar with these incredible women of faith.

Repeat stories

While this is a lovely book, I am somewhat disappointed. No really disappointed! It is stories from Women of Faith in the Latter days, volume 1, 2, and 3. No new stories. I have all three of these volumes. Why didn't they state this in the description? I would not have purchased it if I had known. I thought I was getting new stories.
