From the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra on Temple Square comes Glory! Music of Rejoicing, a sensational new album overflowing with the majestic and grandiose sound the Choir is famous for. Glory! features music from masterworks, sacred anthems, a folk hymn, a song from the Broadway stage, and selections from some of the most eminent film composers of our day. Included are jubilant renditions of "Ode to Joy" from Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, Ennio Morricone's "Nella fantasia" from The Mission, and the frequently requested anthem, "The Holy City." Infused with the powerful sound of the Choir, plus 110 instrumentalists, these songs will bring you to your feet!
Received my copy a couple weeks back. Have played several selections on my WXPR Public Radio 91.7
fm 'Midday Classics' program. Gotta love the "MTC"!
Thank you for this gorgeous CD. I listen to it in the car every day! The music inspires and motivates me! Exceptional quality!
Marvelous album; many of the less-listened-to pieces are treasures, like the poignant melody in the Peter Pan song and I particularly liked the energy and preserved Tabernacle acoustics in "Cum Sancto Spriritu. . ."
It doesn't get much better than this! The Choir and Orchestra are in top form.
This is a very nice CD. There is a lot of variety on here which is nice. I really like Ryan Murphy's "Pilgrim Song." I've loved that once since the first time I heard it a few years ago. My two other favorite tracks are "Glory" and "Psalm 148." I have earlier recordings of both of those and they are still favorites of mine. I love the fact that the organ has a particular prominence in Psalm 148. I love the sound of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir accompanied by organ. It would be nice to hear more of that. A few tracks with just choir and organ would be absolutely wonderful on the next recording. Overall, it's a great recording.
