Important Friendly Book

I'm a special education teacher and I know that students often imitate or act out what they see. I have personally seen children be affected by pornography and it really can harm them emotionally and socially. I'm glad there is a resource now available to help children cope with things they might happen upon. I have students with a mental age of 3 that even though they can't count to 5, they can easily navigate the internet. I know that I want to protect my own children, because I have seen what happens when they aren't.

I love that this book has simple strategies to teach children how to react to pornography. Even I learned a lot of new things about the brain by reading this book. I think we all, children and adults, need the strategies explained in this book.

Exactly what children need!

This book is awesome because it is just what children right now need. Pornography is a very real threat to everyone not just from a religious standpoint, but because it objectifies women and is powerfully addictive. This book aims to help parents teach children understand the basics of addiction and how to protect themselves against pornography in a way that is appropriate for children who have not had the "sex talk". I hope that this book will be able to help a lot of families with this issue.

Tasteful, honest, and respectful- a GREAT way to open a conversation about pornography with children of all ages!

Pornography is becoming more and more prevalent in our society, and unfortunately, no matter what protections we put in place for our children, we need to be talking about pornography early so they don't become victim to addiction when they encounter it. Good Pictures, Bad Pictures explains in a tasteful way the difference between good pictures and pornography. It also explains in an approachable way the science behind addictions to pornography and gives practical steps on how to utilize the brain to overcome the pull of pornography. The pictures are beautiful watercolors. My children really enjoy reading this book with me. I was grateful for it because after reading it, a couple weeks later my daughter and her friend were accidentally faced with a pop-up add despite all filtering precautions right in front of my friend. She not only knew what to do but was able to have an open dialog with me about what she saw and how she handled it because she was empowered after reading this book with me.
