Nicolas Giusti (an acclaimed Italian composer and opera conductor from Rome) met Gérald Caussé (an accomplished pianist and native of Bordeaux, France) ten years ago. They became fast friends and bonded over their love of playing the piano and their shared faith. For this album, Nicolas composed five piano duet arrangements of classic hymns with the purpose of sharing the joy of the gospel. He turns the traditionally somber meditation "Where Can I Turn for Peace?" into a surprisingly joyful celebration, and his treatment of classic hymns like "I Need Thee Every Hour" and "God Be with You Till We Meet Again" are unforgettable beautiful exchanges between two incredibly talented pianists. The album is rounded out with a virtuosic solo rendition of "Because I Have Been Given Much" by Nicolas Giusti. The level of talent on this album is truly magnificent, but what stands out most is the overwhelming feeling of joy that pours out from every note.
I love this CD, it is very easy to listen to.. They have done an awesome job putting it together.
The music is beautiful. There is always a thread of a hymn running through the music and so many textures within the compositions that delight the senses.
I have been looking for something very special to take to a dear friend in Bulgaria when I travel to see her next week. This will be just the right gift to share. This hymn as well as the others I see listed on the CD will convey my feelings in a way that only music can do; there will be no language barrier here. If Brother Giusti's arrangement of "Where Can I Turn For Peace" is an indication of the others, I can't wait to hear them. And it's so special to see another side of Bishop Causse. I love it!
Bravo!!! Bravissimo!!! Musical refreshment for the soul. More, please!!
I love picturing Bishop Gerald Causse and his very talented friend Nicolas Guisti, laying aside the pressures upon their shoulders and creating this masterpiece of talent and sound.
Joy and hope and inspiration need not only come through very reverent moments. This compilation seems to burst the boundaries of "hymns". I love listening and feeling like I am watching an episode of Mr. Rogers from long ago, where my imagination was awakened and I considered new possibilities. Thank YOU!
Bishop Caussé describes himself as an amateur on the inside cover. He's being extremely modest. He and Nicolas Giusti both give masterful renditions of these hymns,
A truly magnificent rendition which is so moving, inspiring and deeply moving. The joyful feelings as well as the classical style makes one's spirit soar.
I am a ward music director who loves music and I love this selection.
Very impressive! This definitely sounds uplifting & inspiring. What a neat blending of talents on the piano keys. Love it!
Absolutely beautiful and so inspiring.
I was so surprised to learn that Elder Causse was such a talented pianist, and love this arrangement by Brother Giusti. The piano is so versatile and I sat mesmorised as I watched and listened to this great duo. I am going to buy the CD and can't wait to hear the rest of it. Our hymns are so beautiful and it will be interesting to hear their interpretation of them. This music makes me feel JOYFUL!
I really enjoy the mixture of melodies and the "Joyful" compliment. It makes you smile and feel the emotions from the songs in a new light. It is lovely.
