Do you LOVE pasta like I do?
Do you LOVE the taste of Italian spices like I do?
Then this book is DEFINITELY for YOU!
Filled with wonderful Italian dishes (minus the alcohol :) hence the Mormon in the title. She has everything from meatballs to focaccia breads to truffles. She also has some really fun Italian facts and jokes with each recipe.
A couple of my favorites are:
*Mangia che ti passa (Translation: Eat and it will be over, you'll feel better :)
*What do you call an Italian with his hands in his pocket? ~ A mute.
*If you don't like Mama's pasta ~ you need your noodle examined!
*Turkey is served on Thanksgiving...AFTER the manicotti, gnocchi, lasagna and soup.
*Prom dress that Aunt Rosa made: $21.00 for material
Prom hair-do from Cousin Angela:
Free Turning around at prom to see your entire family (including grandparents & senile great Uncle Antonio) standing in the back of the gym: PRICELESS!
DELICIOUS, AMAZING RECIPES!
EVERY recipe we tried as easy to put together and tasted DIVINE!

I am a big fan of Italian food, but the extent of my Italian cooking at home is usually boiling some pasta and heating up a jar of sauce. I was excited when I read that Shannon Smurthwaite's new cookbook includes authentic Italian recipes, some of which are fairly simple to make.
The Mormon Mama Italian Cookbook is very attractive-definitely one I'd pick up off a shelf to look at the recipes. The pictures of completed recipes inside are also great. I would have liked pictures with every recipe, although that doesn't seem common in recipe books.
Some of the recipes are very easy. My nine-year-old made one or two without help, and at least one more with minimal assistance. The recipes we tried were quite good and enjoyed by most of our household.
I noticed the order of the ingredients on at least one recipe was unusual (wet and dry weren't separated-everything mixed together at once), but the end result turned out well.
We have enjoyed this cookbook so far and are looking forward to testing more of the recipes.

Not only is this book absolutely gorgeous, but the recipes are easy and delicious, too! I made the "Mom's Simple Lasagna" as soon as I bought the book, and it was the easiest and possibly most delicious lasagna I've ever made!
From soup to salad to dessert, this book has a little bit of everything - including some vegetarian recipes, sauces, breads, and more.
I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for authentic Italian cuisine.

After trying the manicotti in this book, I felt like I had grown up with an Italian mama cooking for me. It was easy to follow, fresh, and delicious! Love the style of the book.

Love the "at home" feel I get when I read all the personal info. Millie's Meatballs are amazing! I want to go through, one recipe at a time. I'm sure I will love them all!
