A Mother's Book of Secrets: Keys to Making Motherhood Memorable, Meaningful, and Magnificent
Three-year-old Lucy Pothier, who is Shawni's adorable youngest daughter pictured on the cover of this book, was recently diagnosed with a rare syndrome called Bardet Biedl which, among other things, will cause blindness between the ages of 9 and 15 unless new research finds a way to intervene. In her behalf, the authors, Shawni (mother) and Linda (grandmother), will donate all royalties from the book to the Foundation for Blind Children and other research organizations that are working on her issues. Our heartfelt thanks goes to you for joining our cause through the purchase of this book as well as to Deseret Book as they offer a 20% discount for online purchases.

I've read so many parenting books, and A Mother's Book of Secrets is my favorite. Short, easy to read essays (with gorgeous photographs!) from two perspectives: that of a seasoned mother, reaping the rewards of her grown children and one from her daughter, in the trenches of raising her own family. The best of both worlds...great advice with proof it works! This book is not all about the "sweet stuff" of parenting. The real life day-to-day pull your hair out stuff is in there too. It's also not one of those books written by some psychologist who doesn't even have children...these moms have cleaned up poop, dolled out infinite meals, settled hundreds of arguments, but have so many great little tips on keeping motherhood "memorable, meaningful and magnificent." One of those books you'll refer back to again and again...especially when you are having one of those tough days and need a fresh perspective.

I bought this book two days ago. It has kept me up until midnight the past two nights, and the early morning light found me turning back to its pages again. My children are 17, 16, 12, and 9. I found encouragement and wonderful tips in this book for each of my children. Linda's insight and wisdom made me want to cling to all of these last years, and motivated me to kick it up a notch in some really important areas. Shawni made me love being a mother all over again...and I loved the reminder to make my eyes sparkle! Most importantly I felt like the book gave me a pat on the back, and I felt the two authors cheering me on to become the mother that I want to be. In a world where motherhood is often touted as unthankable hard work, this book reminds each of us what a precious gift it is to be called a mom.

This is a fantastic book!!! I loved it! It is so nice to hear other moms speak in a positive way about motherhood! Great real life tips on cherishing the moments of joy that children bring us and wonderful reminders about how short this precious time with our children really is. The best part is that it can be easily read all at once or in little 5 minutes time intervals, each chapter or section is only 2 pages at the most so if you only have 5 minutes you can get a quick little dose of inspiration to holding your head up, taking a deep breath and get back to being the BEST mom you can be!
GREAT BOOK!!!!!! Oh and the photographs in the book are absolutely incredible!
