While this book is definitely geared more toward fathers and the struggles of fatherhood, I could see a definite benefit in applying it to my own parenting. It included lots of concrete examples and practical parenting tips and inspiration to help a parent focus on relationships over results. It's based on the teachings of David O. Mckay. I enjoyed learning more about his life and was so inspired by his approach to parenting and his relationship with his wife. (Disclosure: I received a free copy of this book to review.)
This topic is so overlooked by the world. I've been studying David O. McKay a lot lately and have been fascinated with his teachings on the topic of parenting. I won't ruin it for other readers by divulging too much, but this book is definitely something you should dig into. Great Book!
Author Mark Ogletree shares fascinating vignettes of LDS Church President David O. McKay as a father, who was happiest while at home with his family. President McKay promoted the importance of paternal leadership, sharing this popular quote: "No other success can compensate for failure in the home." What does success consist of? Just trying, teaching, praying, loving. Great book to motivate thoughts about good parenting!
