Product Description

There are two kinds of people in this world, those who choose to act and those who are acted upon. In 1856 John Rowe Moyle and his family chose to act by leaving their beloved England, crossing the plains with the Ellsworth handcart company to eventually settle in Alpine, Utah. Soon after their arrival John Moyle was called by Brigham Young to work as a stone mason on the Salt Lake Temple. For 20 years he walked the 22 miles to Salt Lake City to chisel his deepest convictions into granite. Even after an accident causes him to lose his leg, John continued his sojourn to the temple site each week until his death. Today his handiwork can be seen on the east side of the Temple and verbalizes the motto of John's life, “Holiness to the Lord.”

Simply Breathtaking!

Every so often, there is a film which leaves an indelible impression on your mind and heart. A film and a story that touch and inspire. A tale that leaves you with a feeling of hope, determination to do better, and a sense of peace.

T.C. Christensen's film 'Only A Stonecutter' is one of these.

It is the story of a simple man, who dedicated his life to service of his God. There was in his life no greater call than to work on the Holy Temple of the Lord. No adversity stood in his way as every day he walked twelve miles to work on the Temple. As you watch the film, you will be amazed at the courage and faith of John Rowe Moyle as he dedicates his life to his calling.

I shed tears as I learned about this great man. For he was a man who quietly went about his duty, doing that which he knew to be true. It inspired me to do better, have more faith, give more service, and to be cheerful in doing it.

The cinematography is breathtaking. The story ... compelling. I recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys gathering their family together to witness a story, that's message will linger long after the closing credits have disappeared.

Only A Stonecutter will be a wonderful addition to our family library.

The Story and the Movie - Inspirational!

There have been few movies that have touched me so profoundly as this one has. I was inspired by this magnificent story of a humble servant of the Lord and his dedication to what he was called to do. I recommend this movie to anyone and everyone (although there are a few scenes that may be a little too much for young children - death on the handcart trail and the loss of his leg). This would make a great fireside for youth and adults alike. The cinematography is beautiful!
