The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square

The 360 members of The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square represent men and women from many different backgrounds and professions and range in age from 25 to 60. They reflect a medley of unique lives and experiences and are brought together by their love for singing and their faith. Their incomparable voices are the common chord that unites to form the choral group known all over the world as the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square originated in the mid-19th century in Salt Lake City. As the Latter-day Saints moved west, Church President Brigham Young included musicians among members of the advance parties. Consequently, a small choir first sang for a conference of the Church in the Salt Lake Valley on August 22, 1847, just 29 days after the first group arrived. The origins of The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square may be found in the desire and commitment of early converts to include appropriate music in both sacred and secular events.

The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square has appeared at 13 world's fairs and expositions, performed at the inaugurations of five U.S. presidents, and sung for numerous worldwide telecasts and special events. Five of The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square recordings have achieved "gold record" and two have achieved "platinum record" status. The most popular was the Grammy-Award-winning 1959 release of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" with the Philadelphia Orchestra.

I've always been a fan of the choir. What a great addition to my collection.

I bought this as a gift for my husband. I had hoped it would be more of the style the Called To Serve CD was done in but it was not. If I could return it I would. The choice of songs is fantastic, the delivery very bad.

    Truly Heavenly!

One of the best purchases I've ever made! Whenever I want to bring the spirit back into my life, this one does it! The arrangements are masterfully presented and the music truly inspiring! Definitely worth it!

    MoTab does it again!

As is always expected from the choir, this CD is wonderful! I convinced my mother to buy it at Deseret Book, and we're both very glad we got it! The music is beautifully arranged and performed. I can't recommend this CD enough!

    Excellent Spiritual Music

This is a CD I have long-time dreamed of having. It is one of the most spiritual-uplifting albums the choir has ever done. I highly recommend this album to everyone. I know I will listen to this album very often. Every song reminds you of our Prophet Joseph Smith. This along with the "Called to Serve" are two very wise investments to anyone's library.

    Wonderful, inspiring music!

What a great resource for the RS/Priesthood course of study this year! These songs and hymns will add a new dimension to studying the life and teachings of Joseph Smith. And the music is simply glorious -- beautifully arranged and impeccably performed. This is a must-have CD.

Great new CD honors Joseph Smith!

I bought a copy of this CD as soon as it was released and am thrilled with what I hear. Not only is the CD full of wonderful new arrangements and powerful performances by the choir, but the selection of pieces provides a powerful witness to the calling of the Prophet Joseph Smith and to his mortal mission.

A great addition to the Tab choir library of every Latter-day Saint!

    Spiritual perfection!

Knowing how much I love the Choir and the prophet Joseph Smith, my husband new this new CD would be the perfect gift for me and he was right. I had goose bumps all over the whole time I listened to it. Praise to the Man brought me right to tears because of the Choir's wonderful delivery of it. What talent! Every note was perfect! The orchestra was fantastic as well! I own all of the Choir's CD's and there is not a bad one in the bunch. That really says a lot for a choir. They're my inspiration EVERY day and I thank them!

They have done it again... as always. The Choir continues to inspire us with their great voice and music. With Praise to the Man, you cannot help but not be touched by the music and at the same time remembering Brother Joseph. This album is one for the library, as with all the other Choir albums. This is one that will be cherished for many years, 160 years fold. WE DO THANK GOD FOR A PROPHET. May the legavy of Joseph live on for all eternity.

This is one CD that will have you in tears by the second track. It's a fitting tribute that is a must have in every LDS home. It should be bundled with "Called to Serve."

    Somewhat disappointed

Very good except for one major flaw in my opinion and only my opinion. A Poor Wayfaring Many of Grief does not include the entire song. I purchased it for that one song to hopefully hear all seven verses. Very disappointed that the song does not include all seven verses.

I don't own the CD(yet), but by just looking at the song list, I can tell this is a tribute fit for the Prophet Joseph.
