Each of us has experienced circumstances in our lives when the only person we can turn to is God. Whether in times of greatest need or times when our hearts have been filled with gratitude for the blessings we have received and for the lessons we have learned, we have felt constrained to kneel before Him and express our desires, thanks and praise. These are very poignant and important occurrences in our lives, and numerous songs have been written attempting to capture these moments of greatest need and joy. These "prayer songs" comprise some of the most beautiful, powerful and dramatic ever written. This album is comprised of these songs depicting unique situations in life that give rise to an earnest, sincere and heartfelt communication with the Divine, and the answer that is sure to come.
The best way to describe the sound and feel of this album is "spiritual Broadway." The album song list is a collection of original, LDS/Christian, hymn, and inspirational Broadway songs.
The music is dramatic, moving, and capable of touching the heart and soul of the listener thru the poignant, spiritual lyrics and stories of the songs. The vocal styles on the album range from pop to classical. This combined vocal and music sound is very similar to Josh Groban, only more dramatic and spiritual.
The arrangements and orchestrations on the album are high quality, powerful, moving and uplifting. They include the sweeping, grand and breathtaking sound of full orchestra; and the gentle, beautiful and simple sound of piano and strings to compliment and enhance each song's important message and feeling.
Title Tracks: "Bring Him Home" (from Les Miserables), "Not Too Far from Here," "He's My Son," "Not My Will," "Savior, Redeemer of My Soul," "Better Than I," "Joseph's Lullaby," "My Kindness Shall Not Depart from Thee," "I Have Seen Him" and more.
Dallyn Vail Bayles' rendition of "Savior, Redeemer of my Soul" is one of my most favorite songs right now. I fell in love with it when I first heard it on the trailer of the movie "17 Miracles". I was delighted when I found it on this CD. The depth and beauty of this song is stunning. I now have it memorized and can sing it to myself, what comfort it gives. Thank you, Brother Bayles for the gift of this song in my life.
He was gracious enough to perform at a free concert in Orem, The Keller House to be specific. (Thanks Dallyn) I was privileged to be there and hear him sing "Bring Him Home". I had tears rolling down my cheeks. Dallyn's voice is beyond breathtaking.
It's rare that I hear a powerful male voice that moves me like Dallyn's voice did the first time I heard it. I actually said out loud that I think I'm listening to the voice of an angel. At the time I was watching '17 Miracles' and heard Dallyn singing 'Savior, Redeemer of My Soul' and was quite moved. The entire album is rich and inspiring and prompted me to write the only review I have ever written! Thank you Dallyn for sharing your talent with us.
I never tire of listening to this CD by Dallyn Vail Bayles. It is the perfect combination of Broadway, Pop and Spiritual selections; all testifying of the power of prayer. I have often used music from this CD to supplement my lessons in Relief Society. I have also taken many friends to the "Prayer" concerts that Dallyn has given. I have first hand seen the Spirit and beauty of Dallyn's voice bring the audience to tears. We have all been inspired and filled with the emotional content of the musical performance.
Dallyn has a rare talent indeed. He believes in the message he teaches through the music. The richness of his voice testifies of a loving Savior. We are blessed spend a few inspiring moments listening to the message.
