Product Description

“As you read my story, there is something I want you to understand. That in spite of all the pain — past, present and that still to come — I wouldn't have done anything differently. Nor would I trade the time I had with him for anything — except for what, in the end, I traded it for.”

Beth Cardall has a secret. For eighteen years, she has had no choice but to keep it to herself, but on Christmas Eve 2008, all that is about to change.

For Beth, 1989 was a year marked by tragedy. Her life was falling apart: her six-year-old daughter, Charlotte, was suffering from an unidentifiable illness; her marriage transformed from a seemingly happy and loving relationship to one full of betrayal and pain; her job at the dry cleaners was increasingly at risk; and she had lost any ability to trust, to hope, or to believe in herself. Then, on Christmas Day, as she rushed through a blizzard to the nearest 7-Eleven, Beth encountered Matthew, a strikingly handsome, mysterious stranger, who would single-handedly change the course of her life.

Who is this man, and how does he seem to know so much about her? He pursues her relentlessly, and only after she's fallen deeply in love with him does she learn his incredible secret, changing the world as she knows it, as well as her own destiny.

From the New York Times bestselling author of the beloved classics The Christmas Box and The Christmas List comes a breathtaking story of the transcendent power of love.

Acutally, this is a no-star book., but that wasn't an option.

I read this book for a book club and was not impressed. The sister that chose this book assumed it would be as good as the other Richard Paul Evans books and apologized to us because it was not. We had a lively discussion. Half of the women loved it and the other half were frankly creeped out by it.

Wow...!

Excellent writing and imagination! Wow, after reading chapter 28, I was blown away but made sense to me. This story and the other book that RPE wrote, The Gift, are really different than his other books. But, I enjoyed it very much. Worth the buy. I got my book in large print at another book club.

I usually love Richard Paul Evans books so I hurried and snatched this one up when it came out as part of my Holiday reading this year. His books are usually uplifting and inspiring, but after reading this book I was a little "weirded" out and not inspired at all. I didn't like the relationships of some of the characters, some of the events in the story, a bit of the ending, and some of the unnecessary detail that got a little boring. I did have to finish it becuase it still drew me in, but without giving anything away I was disappointed several times throughout the story. I read it with my husband and he couldn't wait for us to be finished with it and I'm sure we won't be reading it again. I wish I would've found a better price on it. I know I'm just one opinion and who knows, maybe you'll love it. So this may not help much, but I don't want to give anything away if you do decide to read it. Just know that he could've done better this year and I hope for a more inspiring one next year.
