Product Description

Prayers can be a powerful, positive force in our lives, helping us—

  • resolve our personal problems
  • receive revelation to better direct our families
  • with challenges we face as teachers or leaders in the Church
  • in our work, our financial dealings, and with other temporal difficulties
  • as a blessing and tool in every area of our lives

In this enlightening and inspiring book, Elder Gene R. Gook of the First Quorum of the Seventy explains how we may come to these and many other blessings of prayer.

Adapted and expanded from the best-selling talk on tape of the same name, Receiving Answers to Our Prayers gives testimony of the power of prayer, discusses how we can prepare our hearts and minds for prayer, and shares vital principles that add power to our prayers. It also gives insightful counsel on how prayer can most effectively be a blessing for parents and leaders. And it gives much-needed understanding on what to do when answers do not seem to come.

Using more than thirty stories to support and illustrate his points, Elder Cook shares both the tools and the testimony we need to be able to draw closer to our Father in Heaven in prayer—and to receive all the blessings he desires to give us.

"The Lord has promised every one of us the gift to be able to receive constant direction from the Holy Ghost," Elder Cook writes. "He has promised to help us in every aspect of our lives, if only we will let him....When we begin to learn how to obtain answers to our prayers, we start to see the divine ways in which the Lord works, and we see we can receive the Father's many gifts."

Receiving Answers to Our Prayers shows us how we can enter into this process—and truly have effective communication with our Father in Heaven.

Although I am not a member of the Church, I am very familiar with lots of its principles due to close friends. In a trip to SLC I bought this wonderful book, which I have read several times, especially when I need guidance to strenghten my prayers. I really recommend it, it is very instructive, easy to follow and above all, it works.

Great book if you practice the teachings

I am the one who wrote the first review on this book in 2003, when I was not a member. I got baptized in September 2003 and I am very happy inside the Church. I am and live in Costa Rica, and I will always remember this book as very instrumental in my conversion process
