Alexandra Stewart would like nothing more than to make her college freshman year . . . forgettable. Unfortunately, her eidetic memory retains every moment of her life and plays it back, DVD style. It’s great when she aces a test, but not so great when she gets distracted and crashes into a cute guy on her way to class. Talk about an endless loop of humiliation.
When her Russian professor gives her an impossible puzzle, Alex discovers he has a secret—one that will catapult her into a life of cryptic codes and covert missions. Of course, conducting secret ops would be easier if she weren’t trying to impress her handsome new running partner. Love is hard enough already, and now Alex is trying to find it while dodging bullets and going undercover.
One thing is for certain, whatever happens will be forever etched into her memory. And some things are better left forgotten.
I loved the characters from the beginning! Rembrandt is the perfect mix of intrigue, humor, and romance. I can't wait to read the rest of the trilogy!
Me and my teenage daughter both read Remembrandt, by Robin King and we both loved it! I've never read a spy genre book before and I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy it, but it surpassed my expectations! The plot was engaging and strong character development. I especially liked all the action, but pleasantly surprised with the hint of romance which is a "must have" in all the books I read. Needless to say I can't wait to read the next two books in the series and discover the new adventures and struggles Alex will face.
As another reviewer also commented, it is a fun book for all ages. Thank you for writing a clean book. It's hard to find good (clean) books out there, and I appreciate authors who can write a great one. I'll admit, the cover was the first thing that drew me in. I loved it! I know you're not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but I'm guilty as charged. Some of the parts in the book were a little slow, but I felt connected to the characters and soon anticipated how the book was going to end. You'll not regret reading this book.
I am now a big fan of Robin King
Remembrandt is more than your average YA novel. This book is full of suspense and adventure, all dumped in the lap of a 17-year-old girl.
I was drawn into this story and I simply couldn't put it down. Just when you think you know what is going to happen, Alexandra surprises you. Every character has an unique personality that makes you want to know so much more about them and every interaction she has with those characters draws you deeper into the story.
I love Alexandra. This girl may be only 17, but she is super-intelligent. Even though her perfect recall seems like a way to ease through life, she has never let herself be that way. She uses that perfect recall to actually learn and grow and become better. Her life's experiences are complex and heartrending. You cheer for her and cry with her and thrill with her.
The story is completely believable as well. The more you learn about Alex and her life and her past and her family, the more you want to know and the deeper you get pulled. It isn't just about the espionage and adventure either. Alex makes choices because she really wants to fit in and make a difference in her life. She is the kind of person that makes us all want to be better people.
I highly recommend this book to any reader who wants to take a thrilling ride through the spy world!!!
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to remember everything . . . every happy success and every sad disappointment? In Robin King’s young adult suspense novel, Remembrandt, Alexandra Stewart has this ability – eidetic memory – and it is both a gift and a curse as it draws the attention of a secret organization – The Company – whose headquarters is at Brown University where Alexandra attends. With an Alias/Covert Affairs-like feel, Alexandra is recruited and sent on covert ops where her innate talent for puzzle solving coupled with her gifted memory proves she’s ready for whatever The Company requires of her. But is her young heart ready for a handsome Spanish professor and a complicated handler? And will it be strong enough to accept the secrets of the past?
King couples a fast-paced adventure with moments of personal introspection that allows the reader to care for Alexandra and at the same time keep the pages turning to find out what happens next. It’s a wonderful combination and this reader is delighted to know there is another adventure waiting: Van Gogh Gone!
Fun, Quick read! Great for me, my teenagers, or anyone! I love it when a story takes me with them on the adventure. Yes, I went there with Remembrandt!
I loved this book!!!! My daughters and I all adored the suspense, intrigue, and a perfect hint of romance. I had a hard time putting it down! There was depth to this novel that took me completely by surprise. I loved Alexandra's character and loved the idea of an eidetic memory plus how could you not love the puzzles, travel, and spy gadgets. My teenagers have recommended it to all of their friends and I highly recommend this book!
WOW! What a FANTASTIC book!
LOVED IT! SO. SO. SO. GOOD!
Amazing story line as this girl is trying so hard to fit in--yet her mind just will not let her push aside her abilities.
She is pulled into a life she never thought she would be in by her quick response to solve puzzles...FUN!
Then she finds a strength within herself that she often doubted--you will LOVE this scene.
Now she is hooked and wants to solve even more puzzles--and that will take her half-way across the world!
The way her running partner and she come together and how their relationship plays out will leave you smiling :)
LOVED. LOVED. LOVED. IT!
Will definitely read more from this author!
Grab a copy for an extraordinary weekend read!
I had the privilege of being able to read this book before it was released to the public. The author, Robin King, asked me to read it and write about it on my blog. How cool is that? I'm glad that she did because "Remembrandt" is a book that I probably would not have picked up and read on my own, but it's one that I will definitely be reading again. It's an incredible story about a girl name Alexandra who has an eidetic memory (you'll find out what that is when you read the book) and becomes an agent for a secret organization while attending her first year of college. This is a book mean, who wouldn't want to be crazy smart, good looking, a secret agent, and have an exceptionally romantic love life on the side. Plus, the way the story is written just sucks you in and makes you feel like you are right there living it. I found myself smiling, frowning, holding my breath (and then letting it out in a big gush of air), and talking that I didn't know I was looking for until I found it. It's the life I always secretly wished I had. I out loud to myself while reading this. That's when I know I have found a book worth reading. Like I said, I will definitely be reading this again. It will only take a few days to get through and it's clean. I whole-heartedly recommend this book to readers of all ages.
Amazing fun book! I spend a great deal of my time in academia reading text books and University student’s papers. When I read a book for enjoyment it has to be fun and exciting. Robin Kings book Remembrandt was that and so much more. From the moment I started reading I was drawn in by the characters, mystery and romance. It took me on a beautifully detailed journey. I was engaged from the first to last page. I literally started reading and did not set it down until I was done. You won’t be disappointed with this read!
After reading "Remembrandt", I didn't want the story to end. I loved the setting, intrigue, surprises, adventures, and romance in this book. I'm happy to hear that the experiences and friendships won't end. I'm looking forward to what happens next. I recommend this book to the young and young- at- heart alike.
Alexandra is such a fun character! I felt like I was experiencing the story through her eyes. I wish I had her memory and could play back scenes from the book over and over - especially any scene with Mr. Daly and William. The mystery in Alexandra's past and what she discovers under Brown University pushed me to read until the very end. Such a fun read for teens and adults alike.
Remembrandt is a clever and fast paced young adult suspense novel by author Robin King. Alexandra Stewart starts a new semester at Brown University, hoping to leave behind painful memories, which is nearly impossible when her eidetic memory replays everything in movie-esque detail. Things aren't always what they seem: her new running partner will show up in another important area of her life, her Russian professor is anything but ordinary and Brown University holds a well kept secret.
Robin King delivers a perfect mix of suspense and romance. The characters jump out and pull you along for a crazy ride. Alex's eidetic memory will reel you in, her will double life will haunt you and keep you guessing until the very end. It's a fantastic debut for Author Robin King - can't wait for Book Two!
LOVED this book!! I especially loved the main character, Alexandria. Her eidetic memory adds flavor to the intriguing adventure. I couldn't stop reading until I came to the last word. "Remembrandt" is a must read for anyone desiring a fast paced adventure with the perfect touch of romance.
The main character, Alexandra had me hooked from the first page all the way to the last page. While studying at Brown University she steps into a world of adventure that she wasn't looking for. With her eidetic memory, she is the prefect agent at the Company. Author, Robin King weaves a fascinating tale of adventure, puzzles, history, art, romance and family. Robin keeps you intrigued throughout the entire book as you try to figure out the puzzles Alexandra is faced with. Will Alexandra be successful in time to save a missing Company agent or will she be too late? You will have to read to find out! I would highly recommend this book to young adults and adults alike. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series from Robin King and she takes us on another Alexandra Company assignment.
I really enjoyed this book. Alex is an amazing girl. I was fascinated by her eidetic memory and all of its possibilities. This book has one adventure after another. I loved how Alex was a strong young woman, who could literally think her way out of anything. I thought the author did a great job of introducing Alex's back story with her mom and brother. Her father teaches at Brown. I did love how she had a great support system in her roommate and her professors. All the characters are fantastic and entertaining. William especially. He's a doll. Alex's adventures are very page-turning and I can't wait to see what is next for her.
