Enjoyable, Richly Illustrated History
By , Submitted on 2017-08-01

Authors Felipe and Petra Chou have encapsulated sixty years of tragedy and triumph in this enjoyable, richly illustrated story of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Taiwan. They chose the title to reflect the name of the Chinese newsletter "Voice of the Saints," which was also the name of a popular Church choir in Taiwan. Chapters begin with a memorable theme (often with a quote familiar to Church members) and a specific year range, making the history accessible and focused. Consequently, the book is, as Assistant Church Historian and Recorder Reid L. Neilson says, "an indispensable addition to the historiography of Mormonism in East Asia and a delightful retelling and analysis of those Chinese pioneers who laid the foundation for the twenty-first-century Saints to stand." Readers wanting to study Church history in this region will be enlightened and uplifted by the stories of faith in this volume.
