Product Description

Twenty-one year old pianist Ginger Fairbanks has been performing for small and large audiences alike for more than a decade. At the age of 12, she was called as the ward organist. She simply got bored of playing the same songs the same way Sunday after Sunday. To remedy this, she started to embellish the hymns during meetings. This improvisation turned into a hobby, which grew into a talent. In 2004, Ginger released her debut album, Sabbath Impressions, which features inspiring medleys and arrangements of 17 favorite hymns and primary songs. Ginger's visionary arrangements awaken and revitalize these age-old songs, while capturing the beauty and simplicity of beloved hymns.

The reason these pieces are so wonderful is because they 'are' familiar. There is a spiritual element to Ginger's Piano that will fill your soul. Thank YOU!

Beautiful Arrangements!

Ginger's arrangements give a wonderful new take to many of my favorite hymns. I love listening to her CD on Sunday mornings and whenever I need something peaceful to help me calm down or relax. Everyone should check out her arrangement of 'If You Could Hie to Kolob'

Bright Future!

Ginger makes the music come to life and her talent is tangible through these hymns. I am not normally one to listen to any church music on CD, but she has a particular way of drawing me in. A wonderful CD by an incredible artist and person!

Not original or new

Sabbath Impressions is a nice attempt at some background easy listening music, but if one is looking for something original and fresh, this is not the CD. Each piece is featured in the same key as the hymnbook, all melodies and rhythms are the same. It sounds more like embellishments of one playing from the hymnbook with the same harmonic structure, only adding an arpeggiated bass line with an occasional flourish or interlude between verses. All arrangements sound the same. I don't listen to it and think, 'I want to learn how to play that arrangement!' Two stars for effort.
