In Scripture Power, Hank compares scripture study to gold mining. He says that miners look for veins of gold in the rock—and then they follow the veins. In the scriptures, the stories are the rock and the principles we extract from them are the gold. He teaches the concept of “Read it,” “Find it,” and “Use it” to help listeners find the gold and apply the life-saving principles mined in their scripture study. With entertaining stories, examples from the scriptures, and inspiring quotes from Church leaders, Hank drives home his points in a powerful way. He closes with this testimony of the Savior: “My hope is that you will read about Him in the Book of Mormon, that you will find Him and a relationship with Him in that book, and that you will use His Atonement—the gift He has given us—because of what you read and find in the Book of Mormon.”
Love those books. Oh, and you. But I like those books..
I learned so much from this talk. I now look at scripture study with a new perspective, looking for principles instead of story details. Thank you for sharing the discoveries of your Seminary students. I learned a great deal from them too!
This CD is awesome!! Bro. Smith has a fun sense of humor and uses it in an incredible way to bring the Spirit into this gospel discussion of the scriptures. His love for the scriptures, and the Book of Mormon in particular, is evident as he explains the power of the word of God in each of our lives. He will make you laugh, and at the same time- gain a deeper appreciation and understanding of the scriptures and the role they should play in your life. As an avid Hank Smith fan, this is my new favorite!
We love to listen to Hank Smith! He keeps us laughing and lifts our hearts. Scripture Power is for the whole family!
