Great cookbook for simple and fast recipes!
By , Submitted on 2019-09-09

I have a confession. I don't really enjoy cooking very much. I do it almost every night because I want my children to be healthy (and definitely don't want to spend a fortune eating out) but it is not something I look forward too very much. Whenever I look for new recipes, I automatically skip anything that looks complicated or that has a long list of ingredients. Too much time and too much work!
Imagine my delight upon hearing that Six Sisters was coming out with a recipe book that kept things simple, easy, and fast by only having 6 or less ingredients per recipe. I love all of their other cookbooks but this one, I think, may be my new favorite. We have made quite a few recipes from each section - Main Dishes, Side Dishes, and Desserts, and they have all been a hit. Did all my kids like every single one? No, with 5 kids, I have a better chance of winning the lottery than of cooking something they will all like. But there were lots of "Mom, when are you going to make this again?" and even some "Why don't you cook something like this every night?" Best story from using this cookbook? Caught my 13-year-old getting food out of the fridge super late one night. I thought for sure she would be eating ice cream or some other sweet, but when she turned around, she was holding a bowl of the Slow Cooker Creamed Corn. Apparently she loved it so much, it was worth sneaking out of bed for!

Great cookbook, yummy food!

I’m always on the lookout for new recipes to try. Six Sisters’ have some of my very favorites. And their cookbooks are amazing!

I had a great time trying recipes from this cookbook. Each of the recipes in this one has six ingredients or fewer. And I loved the way each of the recipes had suggestions of what to make with it. I am not awesome at coming up with side dishes to go with things.

Another fun thing about this one is the kid approved recipe label. Each of the sisters have kids. And if their kids will eat it, I’m in high hopes that mine will too!

I made a breakfast sandwich from this one. It was fun making the sides it suggested with it. There was a simple fruit salad and some Italian roasted vegetables.

I know I’ll have fun cooking with this one in the future. And my family will be having some pretty great meals as well!

Delicious quick and simple recipes

I have tried a lot of the recipes in this book and they have been delicious and easy. Some of the recipes are for familiar favorites and some are less common but they’re all simple and use minimal ingredients. None of the recipes have more than six ingredients and some of them have even fewer. This is a nice size cookbook with a large full page picture opposite the recipe on each two page spread. There is a red kid approved symbol on pages that are expected to be kid friendly, but I think there are a lot of recipes in this book that kids would like that aren’t marked as kid approved - such as Slow Cooker Chicken Alfredo. Each recipe has a prep time, cook time, and total time listed at the top as well as the number of people it serves. Below each main dish and side dish recipe are two other recipes from the book that are suggested to go with it, such as a side and a dessert for a main dish. For example, below the recipe for Slow Cooker Ritz Chicken is the suggestion to serve it with Italian Roasted Vegetable Medley and Easy Homemade Rolls all from this book. I recommend this book and think most people, especially busy families, would find it helpful.
I received an ARC of this book to use for my review but the opinions are my own.
