The Song of My Father

The Song of My Father was such a beautiful book about life and the lessons the author learned from her father. It was honest and hopeful, thought evoking and inspiring. It's a perfect book to grab if you have a few minutes each day to reflect as you read one of the several short sections focusing on what the author has learned from her life and her father.
I enjoyed each memory and story shared of the author's life and experiences with her father. I also liked that she didn't shy away from the imperfectness of her father and her own life. She shared how she learned from some devastating and trying experiences. I also thought the theme of each one of us having a song that we sing through our lives was lovely and connected with me.
Here's one part that especially touched me:
Believing that "good will come from this" does not mean that everything that happens to us is good. It is, however, a belief that even in our darkest and most difficult days, there are built-in lessons that can prepare us for the future.
It means having faith that a higher power is at work in our lies and trusting that power to help us learn and grow from every challenge and heartache we face.
My dad taught that belief to us from our earliest childhood, he shared it with others in their times of pain and suffering, and he did not question its truth in the midst of his own trials. He never doubted that the power of God was stronger than anything that could happen to us and that we were always being led in the direction of our own best good.
The Song of My Father was a wonderful book for those who would like to reflect more on their lives, their perspective, and Christians who would be uplifted by the overall message that no matter the circumstances, "good will come from this."

WOW! This book is SO GOOD!
It is easy to say "good will come from this" when life is going well, or you have had just one or two difficult times....
BUT, this author and her family have had multiple trials and tribulations- and yet, she is still able to sing this "song of her father's-"
Her story is INCREDIBLE and INSPIRING! You will not believe what this author has gone through and yet she remains hopeful! I laughed, I cried, and I gained hope for my situation!
I so want to remember to think this way!
EVERYONE NEEDS TO READ THIS BOOK!
SO AMAZINGLY WONDERFUL!
LOVED. LOVED. LOVED. IT!
