Product Description

In 1996, President Gordon B. Hinckley said “When all is said and done, we are all students. If the day ever comes when we quit learning, look out. We will just atrophy and die. We all can learn and learn well” (Oahu Hawaii Regional Conference, February 18, 1996).

With his newest book, Spiritual Atrophy, author Christopher R. Greenwood writes with clarity, compassion and insight about the need to grow and develop our spirituality as we travel through mortality. He offers a comprehensive and understandable treatment of the danger of pausing on spiritual plateaus, and offers insights into:

  • Godly Sorrow
  • Complacency and Setting Up Stakes
  • Forgiveness
  • Being Cumbered About
  • Discernment
  • Temple Attendance
  • Finding the Right Friends

“As I observe college football each season,” writes the author Christopher R. Greenwood in this landmark book about the need we each have for spiri¬tual growth, “watching the individual teams produce and execute play after play, they make it look so effortless. The same goes for a song that has been well sung or a dance that has been performed. We feel as if we could just join in without skipping a beat. However, when we come back to reality, we know that there is a lot of practice, effort, and struggle that go on behind the scenes. I believe that through applying this same practice, effort, and struggle in our own spirituality comes a certain type of relationship that we can earn with our Father in Heaven and Savior Jesus Christ, based upon our own due diligence.”

Once again Bro. Greenwood delivers an outstanding and insightful guide to spiritual success, which has been so overlooked in our society that there are few authors with the depth and intelligence to explain these principles in a way the layman can understand and incorporate. I was intrigued by his Equal Time Theory explained in Chapter Two. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to avoid spiritual atrophy in their life.

Loved it!

I have had the opportunity to read your book Spiritual Atrophy! I loved it!. Thanks for writing this book!
A few weeks ago [I had] an experience that happened to me after I read the chapter on forgiveness. Maybe it seems a little silly but this experience really touched my heart. A year ago I had a small fight with an employee at a local restaurant. He already had behaved very rude to me several times before. So one day when I went there, and he was really rude again, I could not help it but to talk to his supervisor that his employee was really rude. I was very angry and even though the supervisor talked to the employee, I felt really bad, but I never did anything to fix it. Since I am a frequent customer at this restaurant, I [recently] went back and this guy just came to assist me. My first reaction was to be in a defensive mode, but what I read in your book got me thinking a lot and I set a goal to change. I tried to be polite hoping that he wouldn't remember me, but he asked me if I was the girl whom he had a fight with like a year ago. I said yes, still not knowing what to do but at the same time trying to forgive and change, so even though I didn't know how he would react, I apologized to him and to my surprise he apologized to me too. I was impressed how long I lived with that uncomfortable feeling towards this person and how easy it was to ask for forgiveness, but above all, I loved the happiness and peace that come after that.
So I am very grateful [to] you [for] writing this book, that helped me remember and really understand things so that I can apply them in my life!!!
