We know that George Washington was a moral man and an inspiring leader, but did he possibly know more than we suppose? Was he a national covenant maker like Moses, Abraham, Lehi, or Captain Moroni? Did he understand that he was fighting for the liberty of a promised land protected by God, a place where the Lord's holy temples could be built?
The Washington Hypothesis explores the intriguing evidence that Washington and the other Founding Fathers knew the Lord had a greater purpose for America. It takes us on a fascinating historical journey through the miracles of the Revolutionary War to the foundational documents of this great nation to the symbolism evident in every corner of the nation's capital. Exploring how Washington's beliefs framed his every action, author Timothy Ballard draws compelling conclusions about the divinity of that great leader's calling. As we see the evidence of the Lord's hand in Washington's life, we may discover a much grander design at work in the founding of our nation—and thus a greater desire to strive to preserve those promised blessings.

Easily one of the best books I’ve ever listened too!
I have the painting of Washington praying at home, and this book is the perfect companion to that. I love how Washington credited so much to God. I love the stories of the miracles that Washington experienced in his effort to win the war.
I loved this book, and felt the Author did “due diligence” in supporting his hypothesis! Great Work!! I recommend this book!!
Loved this inspiring book! Highly recommend it to anyone! It's uplifting and Tim Ballard inspires me with his life's work!!! Buy and read this book! I love love love to read and this is definitely one of my top picks!!! 😃
The author is not a historian. This book is not a true non-fiction academically rigorous history of George Washington. There are multiple unsupported hypotheses and Mr. Ballard often engages in speculative guesswork. It’s less about Washington and more about what the author thinks may be true about Washington. It’s a great read if you want to hear one man’s amateur opinion, not if you want a analytical approach.
This book was very well written and very interesting! I have lived in Washington D.C. for a few years and didn’t know many of the things he talks about. I loved listening to this book!
This one just as the Lincon Hypothesis, are a must for history and those given to a real life history detective story. Its great to listen to as a review on the plus but its a must order to read over and over again as you focus on your personal study.
As a British Citizen or Red Coat, i really enjoyed this book. it was really hard for us to win when God is against us! i enjoyed seeing the hand of the Lord in the founding of the USA
I have avery high regard for our first president after reading this book. He endured many hardship so we could have America for us and be free from other countries ruling us. I learned many wonderful things from reading this book. Everyone should read this book
I was kind of amazed by just how much I enjoyed this book! I read and enjoyed The Lincoln Hypothesis when it came out a few years ago, so I probably shouldn't have been surprised. What I found when I read this book was a well-researched, interesting book containing ideas about George Washington that I had never thought myself before.
I enjoyed reading the author's personal stories, both about his research and about his life. I really enjoyed reading about his childhood church that he attended. Now I want to go and check out that building for myself, I wonder if they do tours the way they do for some of the older buildings around my area.
I really appreciate the amount of research that must have gone into this book. There are tons of historical facts, quotes and visits to historical places that the author would have had to have gone through and made in order to have written such an amazing book.
I love the way that the author used what happened in Washington's time and compared it both to our time and to times in the scriptures. I especially loved the way he compared Washington to Captain Moroni, wow, talk about mind blowing.
This is one non-fiction book that I didn't want to put down, I highly recommend everyone read it.
I have been tired of hearing people say our forefathers didn't believe in God. This is an amazing book that makes me want to encourage everyone in this great nation to read it. Patriotism is being squashed and God removed from as many things as possible, which is even more heart wrenching when you find out how it came to be. Superb!
I just read this and I felt this incredible sense of patriotism and God. The writing and references are outstanding and the beauty and depth of Washington's beliefs encouraged me to do the same thing for the group we have on FB with one of my disorders. I asked to do what Washington did. Many participated in a day of prayer and it was refreshing to see how God works for all of us. If only our nation would return to this beautiful condition and put their trust in God. We need to be healed!
Appreciated the documentary support for the hand of Providence in fledgling America's battles (and retreats!), for Washington's recognition of Providence (not his own genius) and that patriots' prayers, repentance, and gratitude (including his own) were the key to meriting that Providence. Also impressed by his courage in facing the world's superpower at the time at the risk of his life and fortune, and his personal sacrifice in leading the new nation. I'm convinced of the national covenant and of Washington's role in being raised up for the very purpose. I also appreciate better than ever in our secular age why our national motto is "In God We Trust." And I'm persuaded that signs and symbols point to a Supreme Creator who is also the architect of nations (including America) and the author liberty. Thanks Timothy Ballard for telling the story so well.
I wasn't sure if this book would be able to keep my interest. Boy was I wrong. I learned so much about George Washington and as I listened I learned to appreciate the great man more than ever. He was very courageous and a great leader. I loved all of the new insights into Washington's life and all of the connections to the restoration of the gospel. I would recommend this book to all who are interested in early American history..
WOW!!!!!!!!! I loved this book! Timothy Ballard did an amazing job with his research. This is a book that I will read again and again and learn something new every time.
Wow! I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish. It is very well documented and sourced. Timothy Ballard has done some incredible research! It was so fun to learn more in depth about the history of the revolution and George Washington's inspired hand in its occurrence. There are plenty of illustrations throughout the book. I would have enjoyed a map showing where the battles took place, but the rest of the illustrations were quite interesting. The book begins by capturing your attention immediately and then throughout the book there are continued moments of personal touches, a bit of humor here and there, and inspiring insights. He did a great job of proving his hypothesis! I loved the book!
I really enjoyed this book and learned so much. I have always felt that the founding fathers were spiritual people being led by God. That is how they were able to achieve and accomplish what they did. I am grateful for all they sacrificed for liberty. I learned a lot about George Washington and the war that I did not know. He was able to accomplish many great things as he followed the promptings he was given because he asked. The author did an amazing job and I am glad I read this book.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Mr. Ballard’s writing style is familiar and easy to read. It’s like listening to a storyteller. His enthusiasm for the subject shines through in every chapter. I was amazed at how much I learned about the Revolutionary War that I had never read or been taught. I absolutely love the way that Mr. Ballard seamlessly wove together the founding of America and the fulfillment of Book of Mormon prophesies about the restoration of the gospel. I have always had a deep conviction that George Washington was a man of God who followed the promptings of the spirit as a founder and the first president of our nation, and Mr. Ballard provides the evidence that I have long sought for. This book is a wonderful reminder of the values that our country was founded on, and a call to return to those values. It is a very worthwhile read.
Just read "The Washington Hypothesis" and loved it. Like its predecessor "The Lincoln Hypothesis" it is thrilling, inspirational, and cries out a need for this nation and all nations to covenant with the great Creator that peace and happiness might prevail. It kindles the flame for a 'new birth' that this nation/world is in need of. I have one question to the publishers: Where is the color in the illustrations? The illustrations are nice but are often described verbally as to their color. I followed the suggested link to the government site to view the Rotunda of the Capitol - the link was not correct but with a little effort found color illustrations that could have and should have been included in the book. A great book that would benefit all to read, ponder, and as Ben Franklin act upon.
Timothy Ballard had me hook, line, and sinker with this book! I was intrigued from the prologue all the way through to the epilogue. If I learned any of this in school, which I don't think I did because they don't teach about miracles and God in public school, I totally forgot all that I learned. I knew George Washington was a special leader, but I didn't realize just how chosen he was until this book. Thank you, Mr. Ballard, for doing your research and sharing this with us all. I hope we all take our national covenant seriously and help this great country get back on the right track.
I am shocked at how much history about George Washington and the Revolutionary War that I didn't know. Whether George Washington knew many truths about the Gospel, I'm not sure. I am sure that this righteous man was prompted by the Spirit and followed the promptings. Tim Ballard has done his research about the events that he has written about. This isn't a boring history book though. It is very engaging and inspiring! I love this book!
