In this dispensation young men who are worthy members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are privileged to be "called as was Aaron" and ordained to the holy priesthood known by his name. In order to magnify their callings, they must understand what priesthood is, and particularly, what the Aaronic Priesthood is. They must understand its blessings and its concomitant responsibilities. Aaronic Priesthood is addressed to all who hold the Priesthood of Aaron, to those who believe that the Aaronic Priesthood has been restored to the earth through the Prophet Joseph Smith; and to those called to direct the activities of and to teach those who hold the Aaronic Priesthood. "God has shared his power and authority with men on earth," the author declares. "This shared, divine authority is called priesthood—and the Aaronic Priesthood is an appendage to God's power as delegated to man on earth." Through greater understanding of the doctrines associated with the lesser or Aaronic Priesthood, those called to this holy order can use it as a "school master unto Christ"—that is, a means by which to bring members of the Church and others to a fullness of the gospel. Aaronic Priesthood provides the scriptural and doctrinal teachings concerning this important priesthood and gives insights into what it is, what its responsibilities are, and how it may be magnified.
