Between December 25, 1833, and January 3, 1834, Joseph Smith received what we now know as Doctrine and Covenants 87 and 88, also known as the “Christmas revelations.” This pair of revelations sets out, in section 87, the cause and location of the beginnings of the Civil War in the United States and the prophecy that, as the revelation asserts, from then on “war will be poured out upon all nations, beginning at this place” (D&C 87:2). Hope is not lost, however, as section 88, known as “the Lord’s message of peace to us,” shows what great things the Lord has in store for us in the latter days. In this digital single, Elder Lance B.
