At no other time in history have more members of the Church had access to the blessings of the temple. The Church has been building new temples at an unprecedented rate. With this growing emphasis on the need for temple attendance comes a desire by members of the Church to get more out of their temple worship. In this enlightening and inspiring talk, Brother Herschel Pedersen teaches how we can take full advantage of the blessings of the temple. Drawing from his experience as a member of the Mount Timpanogos Temple presidency and the wealth of knowledge gained from a lifetime of study, Brother Pedersen shares insights and stories that will enhance your understanding and heighten you temple experience. Using faith promoting experiences and inspired teachings from the Brethren, Brother Pedersen shows how the temple is a place for the “perfecting of the living, not the dead.”Herschel N. Pedersen was born and raised in Salt Lake City. He attended BYU on an athletic scholarship and was later inducted into the BYU Hall of Fame. (At 6’7 and 197 pounds he was nicknamed “Soup Bones!”) He served a mission to Denmark and was later drafted to serve in the army during the Korean conflict. He returned to BYU in 1953 and graduated in 1956. His church service has included serving as a Bishop, mission president in New Zealand, Mission Representative to the Quorum of the Twelve, and counselor in the temple presidency of the Mount Timpanogos Temple. He and his wife, Shirley, served a mission to Denmark. They are the parents of nine children, “all of them boys except for the last eight.” They also raised six foster children.
